Once you’ve started your Substack newsletter to make money, you’ve got to grow it.

Here are some beginner tips:
Look at similar publications and recommend them if you think your audience would like them. Often times they’ll recommend you back and you can both grow your audiences together.
Link to your publication on all of your web presences. If you already have a Twitter link, a Facebook link, a LinkedIn link, and Instagram link (and more), make sure you add a link to your Substack publication.
Ask people to subscribe. Substack provides an embedded form you can add to your website (just copy/paste the code). This provides a way for people to find your publication and it also allows you to see where you subscribers are coming from in your stats section of the Writer’s dashboard.
Make sure, if you go paid early, that any and all links you have to your publication are not paywall-ed. You don’t want someone’s first experience to be a paywall where they can’t actually see your writing.
Interview people whom you think your audience would be interested in. This giving of attention to someone can sometimes be reciprocated and they’ll plug the interview to their audience.
Until next time!
All the best,
Sebastian
